چکیده

A wide range of activities depend on digital geographic data and geoprocessing, and these information resources are rapidly becoming more important as commerce expands, information technology advances, and environmental problems demand resolution. Unfortunately, noninteroperability severely limits the use of digital geographic information. Spatial data exist in a wide range of incompatible and often vendor-proprietary forms, and geographic information systems (GIS) usually exist in organizations as isolated collections of data, software, and user expertise.

Development of a controlled vocabulary for semantic interoperability of mineral exploration geodata for mining projects

Semantic interoperability of mineral exploration geodata is a long-term concern in mining projects. Inconsistent conceptual schemas and heterogeneous professional terms among various geodata sources in a mining project often hinder their efficient use and/or reuse. Our study of a controlled vocabulary focuses on interoperability of mineral exploration geodata of different mining projects of a m...

Interoperability for 3D Geodata

Storage, processing and visualization of 3D geodata are an important subject in the GIS world even before the leading search engine introduced its globe viewer. Usage of standards of the Open Geospa-tial Consortium (OGC) open up new possibilities for combination and usage of 3D geodata. First practical experiences show promising results.

About the emotional requirements of map users

Cartography is a bridge that brings together geodata and their users. Two interfaces need to be designed for this bridge role: one between geodata and their maps, and the other between maps and their users. As shown in Fig.1, the more or less “raw” geodata collected from diversified sources (e.g. field survey, remote sensing, map digitization, news agency, statistic study etc.) must be harmoniz...

The Role of Spatial Relations in Automating the Semantic Annotation of Geodata

How can the usability of distributed and heterogeneous geographic data sets be enhanced? Semantic interoperability is a prerequisite for effectively finding and accessing relevant data in different application contexts. By using geospatial domain ontologies and semantic annotations of geodata based on these ontologies semantic interoperability can be achieved. However, since no automated method...

Development of GIS Interoperability Infrastructure in Local Community Environment

Increasing number of geodata producers and users in local community environment have expressed the need for the integration of geodata from distributed information sources and for interoperable GISs. The systems that own this data must be capable of interoperation with systems around them, in order to make access to this data to become feasible. The system also must deal with issues unique to g...

Tools for Distributed Geodata Processing Based on OGC Web Processing Services

We sketch the main software components developed in the project RichWPS, which aims to support end users (no IT experts) to make better use of distributed geodata processing through the OGC Web Processing Service (WPS). These services include a service orchestration solution (modelling GUI and orchestration engine), several supporting modules and services (like a semantics-enabled service regis...
